2014 Brisbane G20 Summit – Station Upgrades

In 2014 Brisbane hosted the ninth meeting of the G20 Leaders’ Summit, welcoming 22 world leaders and more than 4,000 delegates from the world’s largest economies. The event involved a complex security operation. While the major security focus was on the G20 precinct around the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, appropriate security measures needed to be in place to ward off the possibility of attacks on prominent public spaces outside the precinct.

In 2014 Queensland Rail tendered for the design and construction of works to provide vehicle impact rated access control at Central, Roma Street and Milton Stations. Create Security was the successful tenderer to provide hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) solutions for these major Brisbane transport hubs.

Create Security was responsible for the entire project, from concept design through to certification. This major project involved Create Security designing and installing the integration of an innovative, world first, PAS68 rated cantilever sliding arm barrier with a cantilever sliding gate. Other PAS68 rated equipment and security treatments included a rising blocker/step tested in accordance with 7.5 tonne at 80kph, a solar powered surface mount road blocker tested in accordance with 3.5 tonne at 48kph and 7.5 tonne at 80kpm tested fixed removable bollards.

Create Security is proud to be part of the robust security initiative helping to deliver safer precincts in and around the city of Brisbane. Create Security continues to be involved in the servicing and preventative maintenance of these systems.
