Perimeter Protection for Council Bus Depots
In 2015 the Brisbane City Council awarded Create Security the tender to design and install automated security gates and perimeter protection for the Garden City Bus Depot and the Carina Bus Depot. The purpose of the project was to upgrade the security and functionality of the bus depots by replacing manual chainwire gates with a comprehensive automated security gate system catering for buses, staff vehicles, visitors and pedestrians entering and exiting the high traffic depots.
The design element had a strong emphasis on safety, performance and reliability to enable 600-850 gate operations per day per entry/exit path. This meant the design and construction of the automated gate systems needed to be of a supremely high quality to achieve a flawless level of operation and serviceability.
At the Garden City Bus Depot (which is the largest bus depot on Brisbane’s southside) we installed: bus/vehicle entry dual swing gates; 9.5 meter bus/vehicle exit cantilever gate; 6 meter vehicle exit/entry cantilever gate; and 1 automated pedestrian swing gate.
At the Carina Bus Depot we installed: vehicle entrance dual swing gates; 2x bus exit dual swing gates; bus entrance dual swing gates; and 2 automated pedestrian swing gates.
To put the operation of these gates into perspective, the 9.5 meter cantilever gate installed at the Garden City Bus Depot does 850 operations per day. That means it travels 16km per day, 5,840km per year which is equivalent to a one-way trip from Brisbane to Manila Philippines!
Our comprehensive scope of works at both depots included the civils, excavations, concrete foundations, gate manufacture and installation, protection bollards, car and bus reader pedestals integrated with access control systems, electronic bus tag loop systems, 240 volt, comms, fibre conduiting, bitumen, resurfacing works, gutter and curb rectification, landscaping, line marking and chain wire fencing. This project was an example of Create Security having the capability and resources to combine all aspects of physical security to deliver an all-inclusive perimeter security solution.
These gates have been serviced by Create Security on a quarterly basis since installation to maintain optimal operation of the mechanical and electronic components of the systems. These services are like routine servicing of your vehicle.
